About Angela Faye

Angela Faye Stephens grew up in Memphis, Tennessee where she built a career of 20+ years in advertising and publishing. Starting out in advertising sales, she later created, produced and published the cutting edge art and fashion magazine Eye and the popular Girls of Memphis Swimsuit Calendar series. She scouted and hired models, photographers and graphic artists to create and fulfill her visions.

A rural visit results in a shift in focus

To take a break from her busy city life, she drove to her sister’s 30 acre farm in Central Missouri, a rustic, rural area "in the middle of nowhere." The farm was very peaceful and slow paced and Angela found a new love of photography when she began taking pictures of chickens, goats, cows and the beautiful country scenery that surrounded her.

Moving out of the city and selling her photo prints

Angela decided to go in a new direction when she made the move to Franklin, a small town South of Nashville where her nephew lived. Soon after moving, she joined the Arts Council of Williamson County (ACWC).

While at a ACWC meeting she shared some of her photographs and was encouraged to try selling her country photographs at local art shows. Soon she was exhibiting her photography in and around Franklin and Williamson County at city hall, libraries, restaurants, retail malls and coffee shops.

Finding a new career

Soon, she began adding taglines and effects to her photos to be sold as metal signs online. They would also be sold along with her prints (often framed in barnwood), ,post cards, greeting cards and magnets, in and around Nashville at small retail locations and in her new booth at a South Nashville antique and decorator mall. This effort culminated in the creation of the "Nashville or Bust Truck" which would be seen on ABC's "Nashville" TV series in a scene filmed at a bar on Second Ave. Angela’s photographic talents continued when she met her husband Larry, and moved to Nashville. They traveled country roads together looking for old barns, rusty cars and country scenery to photograph.

Covid changed everything

When the covid pandemic hit, Angela found herself stuck at home and began photographing the birds in her back yard. She added feeders, twigs and props to capture her new feathered friends in different settings. In 2021 she and her husband created a book showcasing the beautiful birds that began frequenting their back yard. A Day in the Life of a Bird: Backyard Birds and Squirrels was produced in a limited printing. Used for sales and gifts, the project was born from a new love of nature that lived in and around their own back yard.

Backyard Songbirds of Nashville 2025

Her latest project is an 11"x 14" poster called Backyard Songbirds of Nashville. It features 20 of Angela's backyard bird photos printed on coated glossy card stock and for sale on Etsy. All photos were taken in her Nashville back yard!
